Gary Lorenzo Gordon

Gary Lorenzo Gordon, 69, passed away on July 19th, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Gary was born April 21, 1954, to Herman and Doris Gordon.

Gary went to several schools in his younger years as his parents moved around a lot. Shortly after high school he married Zana Harris and within this Union three children were born, Jerome, Chad, and Jessica. Later they divorced.

In 1995 Gary married Suzanne (Olson) Matzek and they were married for 28 years. Wade came into this Union as a stepson to Gary. But Gary had always thought of him as a son.

Gary had many adventures with employment. He managed a gas station up north, worked at what is now USG in Red Wing. He also worked part-time for Brown Seed Co. Gary attended trucking school in Star Prairie, WI. He went on to haul for Knudson Trucking, then Hager City Express. Lastly, he trucked alongside his wife Suzanne as a Team for Halvor Lines out of Superior, WI. Gary was proud that he spent 38 years behind the wheel of the semi accident free.

Gary loved to farm and gardening. He had some of the best gardens. He enjoyed raising animals, especially chickens. He would show chickens at fairs and had won many ribbons and trophies.

Gary also enjoyed snowmobiling, but his real passion was hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking the kids and grand kids out on the pontoon. We all knew how happy the grandkids were when Grandpa put the pontoon in high gear and pulled them on the inner tubes. Gary prided himself in teaching the kids and grandkids how to safely handle guns for hunting. His real pride and joy was knowing that they all knew how to hunt and to see their trophies, big or small. Never mattered on the size.

Gary is survived by his wife, Suzanne Gordon. Children: Jerome (Amy) Gordon, Chad Gordon, Jessica Schlosser (Chica), Wade (Bobbie Jo) Olson. Grandchildren: Josh Gordon, Andrew Schlosser, John Hendon, Hunter Olson, Autumn Jo Hendon, Sadie Olson, Shelby Olson, and Madeline Geroux. Great-Grandchildren: Asher Schlosser. Sister: Terri (Gary) Meyers. Parents in law: Raymond (Janice) Matzek. Brothers and Sisters in law: George (Audrey) Matzek, Linda Matzek (Jim Cobian), Donald (Deb) Matzek, Nancy (Bob) Johnson, Mary (Don) Obermueller, Joe (Sarah) Matzek. Along with many Nieces and Nephews, and Great Nieces and Nephews, each one meaning so much to Gary.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Doris Gordon. Brothers: Eugene and Delwin Cook. Sister: Corrine Byers.

Gary will always be remembered and loved as he dedicated his life to his family and friends.
