life story

My Mother Will Be Forever In Our Hearts...

Our community sadly lost a pillar on Monday March 21, 2022. Gail Areline Bowen Roberts, favorably known as "Miss Gail", passed away from Health Complications in Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was born March 21, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to Ulysses and Hattie Bowen. She married her first love Jamie McNish and had two beautiful children in NewYork. After her divorce, she relocated to North Carolina and married Dwight Roberts. From that marriage, they had two more beautiful children. During this time, she began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses in Williamston, North Carolina. Ms. Gail then dedicated her life and symbolized it by baptism in the mid- 1980s. She loved her God Jehovah with all her heart, and loved His ministry.

Ms. Gail’s contributions to the lives of many include her creativity shown by her bright and colorful floral arrangements. She proved herself to be an amazingly creative interior designer who would bring to life any living space! Her artistic abilities continued to be shown through the outfits she sowed, the quilts she knitted, and the fashions she constantly designed. With all of that, as well as her passion to help others, her hands and legs were rarely still. In addition, Ms. Gail also shared her love with food such as her famous fresh cut fries and “real” fried chicken.

Ms. Gail is survived by the loving community of Greenville, South Carolina, her two daughters Tamasha Amy McNish, Tonnita Victoria Roberts, and one son Dwight Gabriel Roberts, along with their wives, and children; plus 4 great grandchildren. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Ms. Gail is also survived by one sister, Hattie Ruth Bowen and three brothers, Frank Bowen, Jackie Bowen, Darren Bowen, their spouses, several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her oldest son Xavier McNish, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Bowen, her aunt Lena Bell Parker, and one brother Thomas Bowen.

Our beloved Ms. Gail’s hope in Jehovah’s promises was so sure, that she looked forward to the day that Jehovah, through Christ Jesus, would call those she loved back to life in the resurrection. Now we take comfort and long for the day she will hear His voice call her by name to rise to life on a righteous paradise earth. What a wonderful day that will be! Until then, she is safe in Jehovah’s memory as a loyal and faithful servant of His and will “rest in peace.” (Romans 15:13)

Today, Monday March 21, 2022 at 12:10 AM, We Lost Our Beloved, Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Best Friend, and Neighbor....

My Dear Mother fought a good fight, and was extremely strong. She fell asleep in death in the Greenville Memorial Hospital, located in Greenville, South Carolina. She was smiling and at peace when she passed away, absolutely no pain; and for this I am grateful...

Thank you so much for my family, friends and personal connections, that have prayed for my mother and my family. I truly appreciate everyone's time, patience and understanding. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

At this time I am My Mother's oldest daughter, and I am working hard to ensure that Mother's Memorial Service is presented with class and honor. While in the middle of grieving the loss of my mother. I am very heartbroken... 💔So, I truly appreciate your patience and understanding while I try to return everyone calls and texts messages. 🙏🏿

I am very grateful my mother lived a beautiful life! Also, I am extremely grateful she's been able to do it "Her Way" for so long.... I only can pray I can live longer, and yet still have my independence to do it "My Way"!...🌻

Much Love Family! 🌻🌹🦋

Love Always,

Amy McNish

I am comforted by this Scripture: (Maybe it will do the same for you!)

(1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14, NWT)

13.) "Moreover, brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who are sleeping in death, so that you may not sorrow as the rest do who have no hope.

14.) For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus"

AMEN!
