life story
Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. And having both is a blessing.
Frances found home and family in that which she was born into as well as in her congregation as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
About Frances
Frances K. McDonald, 81, of Apple Valley, MN died in her sleep Wednesday, December 8th. Born in Winston-Salem, Frances moved to Atlanta, GA during her school years. She attended Murphy High School where she was an all-star guard for the 1958 State Champion Girls Basketball team. Shortly after, she married her high school sweetheart, David A. McDonald, on May 22, 1958 and moved to the Hampton-Newport News, VA area for 21 years before moving to Newport, RI, then ultimately Minnesota in 1980. She lived in the Denver, CO area briefly while working for TeleCheck in the late 80s, but eventually returned to Minnesota where she remained for the rest of her years.
Frances was very active in her faith for several decades as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was always the first to host a meal or offer a place to stay to family and friends in need. She played a mean game of Louisiana Rummy, enjoyed a good cozy mystery book, and only once 'lost' an item from the library after her eldest granddaughter, Susan, watched the movie Clue on repeat for an entire summer. In her final days, she found great comfort in the daily visits from her family and members of her congregation as well as the Country-Western music of her youth.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 47 years, David, and her son Michael (4 yrs of age). She is survived by her remaining four children, David (Kathy) McDonald, Catherine McDonald Ledger, Robert McDonald, and John (Erin) McDonald as well as 9 grandchildren.
