life story

Mother, teacher, environmentalist

"Everyone within eyeshot of a child is their teacher - know that and act accordingly." - Frances Anderson

She was named after both grandmother’s; Margaret and also Frances…but apparently Frances was the favorite so that’s what they called her. Frances was born on the Sherburne dairy farm in Rusk Wisconsin just outside of Menomonie, she held a reverence of the Earth and the custodians of the food we eat and the animals inhabiting.

She met Norman Anderson on New Years Day 1946 as he had just recently returned from WWII. The hit it off immediately, in part because they shared a favorite humorous book, “Rally around the Flag, Boys”. Norman’s sharp wit, creativity and ingenuity was the perfect match for Frances’s intelligence.

Together they raised their family of 5 in Saint Paul’s east side.
