Evelyn Marcene Martell, 88, of Northome, MN died on November 7, 2023 at her home in Northome.

Evelyn was born on July 15, 1935 in Northome, MN, the daughter of Vernon and Nora (Elliot) Kohl. She attended Northome High School graduating in 1953. She married Albert Martell on April 3, 1954 in Deer River, MN. She worked in food service at the Northome Nursing Home from 1973 to 1997.

She spent many happy hours with her vegetable and flower gardens. A good, healthy meal was always served at her table. Her family meant everything to Evelyn.

Evelyn is survived by her son, James (Deb) Martell of Rocky Comfort, MO; 2 daughters, LuAnn (Rex) Erickson of St. Paul, MN and Lisa (Kevin) Trimble of Tenstrike, MN; 2 sisters, Norma Leary of Richfield, MN and Janet (Russ) Tufvander of Northome, MN; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Martell, Amanda Christman, Kelly Erickson, Krystal Erickson, Nicholas Erickson, Seth Hartman, Karl Trimble and Kerstin; 13 (almost 14) great grandchildren, Zoey and Keegan Martell, Taylin and Ryker Christman, Brooks and Cameron Erickson, Ava McDaniels, Alexis Childs, Paityn and McKenzie Hartman, and Allissa, Haley and Logan Volker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Martell in 1998; parents, Nora I. and Vernon (Jim) Kohl; sister, Dorothy Berthiaume; brother, C. Leland Kohl; and granddaughter, April Hartman Stomberg.

The event will be from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Northome Senior Center in Northome. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Northome at 4:30 p.m.
