About Eva

Eva passed away August 23, after a short but pernicious battle with dementia.

She was born January 21, 1944, to her parents, Clarence and Ardis Lorentz, in Stockholm Township, MN. She was the fifth of 13 children, with 12 living to adulthood. Eva grew up on a dairy farm, where there was no shortage of work! She attended public school in Howard Lake, MN, through high school graduation in 1961. Her family was active in the congregation at First Presbyterian Church. Eva learned to love the Lord early on – a steadfast faith that carried through her entire life.

Eva met her husband, Royal Moulton, early on, too. They attended the same school and church, but she didn’t love him until a bit later. Royal and Eva were married at First Presbyterian on June 9, 1963, had two daughters, and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year.

Eva loved gardening, church, music, her grandchildren, and was a fierce gameplayer, especially Scrabble and Farkle! She was an expert baker of cheesecake and banana bread, and she could make gravy out of anything!

Eva and Royal were long-time members of the Evangelical Free Church, first in Watertown, MN, then at First Free in Maplewood. Eva shared her gifts with her church communities, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls, and Bible Study, and playing clarinet and singing in the choir.

Eva was stubborn and strong-willed, faithful and friendly, whip-smart and an amazing grammarian. We will miss her sorely and remember her fondly.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ardis Lorentz, her parents-in-law, Kenneth and Lucille Moulton, baby sister Mary Jane, and brothers David, Dale, and Eugene, and brothers-in-law Dick and John. She is survived by her husband Royal, daughters Jennifer (Shane) and Bethany, grandchildren Niko and Julius, brothers Albert (Marlene), Leo, and Michael (Cher), sisters Rose, Sue, Joyce (Herb), Shirley (Marty), and Trudy (Kelly), brothers-in-law Jerry (Nancy) and David (Phyllis), and sisters-in-law Jean, Tunnie, and Terry, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was very loved!
