About Gene

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Eugene “Gene” Ernest Jones Sr. on March 26, 2026, at the age of 79.

Gene is now reunited with his beloved parents, Robert and Eva.

He leaves behind a large and loving family who will cherish his memory: his siblings Delores, Duane (Nancy), Marvin (Sharon), Gladys (Jim), Bernard (Kim), and their families; his children Renee, Ryan (Kristin), Rashelle, Rissa (Isiah), Robert (Nicholette), and Geno; and his grandchildren Ashley, Kiernan, Raykeem, Basia, Jaden, Tavien, Jackson, Sarah, and Kieran.

He is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Dawn, Shannon, Shaun, along with grandchildren Shanelle, Johnny, Justin, Kayla, Michael, Tyler, Alyssah, and Nolan.

Gene will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and friends.

Born in Milaca, Minnesota, Gene was raised on a farmstead in a large, close-knit family before later moving to Anoka, where he attended school. He was a hardworking and determined man, whether working for a company or for himself, and he instilled those same values in those around him.

A talented artist at heart, Gene expressed his creativity through his drywall business, where he took great pride in mentoring his children as they built their own paths in the trade. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, road trips with family, and simple pleasures like watching movies and listening to music.

He will be remembered for his mischievous spirit, his perfectionism, and his ambitious nature.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his close friends, Susan and Howard of Anoka, Minnesota, for being with him and calling for support prior to his passing.

A private memorial service will be held in the summer of 2026 in Anoka, Minnesota.
