Ellen Rushell "Angel" Jackson-Cato passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, in her home in Minneapolis, MN.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she began her journey through life with a strong foundation in faith and education. She attended St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy School and Notre Dame High School for Girls. During her high school years, she worked at Jewels Grocery to help her mother, Marcy Lee Jackson, pay for tuition. After high school, she pursued accounting classes at Kenny

Her career was diverse and accomplished, including property management at Lake View Towers, private accounting, and modeling. After meeting the love of her life, Ernest Cato, she embraced motherhood and became a stay-at-home mom for several years. Later, she relocated to Minnesota, where she worked at New Visions for several years. She transitioned to managing the
Columbia Heights Liberty Tax location while continuing private accounting work. Her dedication to her profession and clients reflected her passion for helping others.
She was known for her vibrant personality, earning the nickname "Disco Queen" as the life of every gathering. Her motto, “At Night, We Come Alive,” embodied her lively spirit. Those who knew her admired her selflessness, generosity, and unwavering strength. She had a strong voice, a quick wit, and a heart full of love.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Cato; her children, Nicholas Tyler Cato, Ashley Marie Cato, and Aaron Malik Cato; her siblings, Anita Brown, Robert Brown, Romando Jackson, Ramanda Burgess, and Marcella Deneen Jackson; and her mother, Marcie Lee Jackson. Special thanks are extended to Nan Upin, Jane Barrash, Marcella Deneen Jackson, Michael Marcel Jackson, Ericka Frye, and the dedicated medical teams who supported her during her battle with cancer.
