Elizabeth Claire Zemmels, age 85, passed away Dec. 17 in Minneapolis. Born in Saskatoon, SK, she was a lifelong athlete in track, tennis, and cycling. Elizabeth earned her Doctorate at the University of La Verne and served two terms as Yolo County Superintendent of Schools in California.

In retirement, she split her time between Puerto Vallarta, MX, and Nelson, BC. A master entertainer, she was known for her "aplomb" at the dinner table and her active lifestyle. Her greatest joy was her six grandchildren, whom she took on "Grand Tours" of Europe and never missed a graduation.

Survived by sons Daniel (Cathy) and David (Esther Perez); six grandchildren; and two sisters. She was a splendid mother, grandmother, and friend. A private family memorial was held Dec. 17.
