About Eileen
Eileen Ethel Syverson, 81, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley, MN after a brief battle with Covid.
Eileen was born on March 22, 1942 to Mayme (Hank) Boe and Lester Hegg in Bagley, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Bagley, graduating with the class of 1960. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was the eldest of a very large family.
Eileen married the love of her life, Arlen Syverson on July 2, 1960. They briefly moved to Renton, Washington early in their marriage, but came back home to Bagley to settle and raise their three children.
Eileen worked part time at The Yardstick House of Fabrics and Dave’s Stereo-The Merc-Hardware Hank for many years. She loved her job and was a real people person who enjoyed working with the public and visiting with everyone.
She also looked forward to family and school reunions and reconnecting with great friends and maintained close relationships with her sisters and brothers and in-laws. She attended and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.
Eileen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafts. She and Arlen enjoyed baking and making donuts and lefse together. They especially had fun teaching their great grandchildren the art of lefse rolling and frying. Together they made a family favorite of potato klub a few special times a year. Eileen was a great cook, learning much at an early age from her mom. Her homemade baked beans were always requested at family get togethers!
Eileen also liked to go dancing with Arlen. She and Arlen had great fun going to karaoke events at the casino and playing Keno while they were there.
But without a doubt, Eileen’s greatest joy in life was her family! She loved being a wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma! She played an active role in the lives of her children and grandchildren and greats, too, taking them back and forth to school daily, attending their school events and activities. She was a very busy loving Grandma whose home was always filled with family members and joy!
Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Arlen Syverson; her children, Tammi (Dale) Teigland, Tara (Dan) Platow, and Tad (Stephanie) Syverson; her grandchildren, Troy Nass, Trent (Lacy) Nass, Kayla (Nic Thompson) Nass, Kody Teigland, Brady (Kelsey Johnson) Kosel, Chris (Haley) Platow, Hailey (Michael Eyre) Syverson, and Kylie Syverson; her great grandchildren, Willie, Sophia, Taylor, Jordan, Tommy, Hayden, Piercen, Kaleigha, Kaden, Zoey, Rylee, Anthony, Addy, Micah, Thomas, and Eleanor; her sisters, Darlene Martine, Jeanne (Bob Moen) Davis, Kristie (Tom) Lindahl, Dorrene (Bob) King, Darlene Loop, and Connie Westover; her brothers, James “Butch” (Kathy) Boe, Ricky (Marlys) Boe, Randy Boe, Wayne (Loretta) Hegg, and Henry (Irma) Boe; her brother-in-law, David Swenson; and many beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and friends.
