life story

Larger Than Life

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. - Dr. Seuss

Edward T. Arp of Waco, Texas passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2022, leaving behind a large family and close circle of friends. Edward graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University and worked for Shell Oil Company for over 45 years.

Ed never met a stranger, and easily made friends wherever he went. His personality was larger than life, and he livened up every room he entered. He was a proud fifth generation Texan and had recently retired from Shell Oil and bought his dream Harley to travel the country on.

Ed leaves behind daughters Megan Arp of Chicago, Illinois, and Jennifer (Richard) Cooke, of Houston, Texas, as well as a son, Michael (Stacy) Hughes of Rochester, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and his long time partner Felicia.

Aside from his family and many friends, Ed’s greatest love was animals. He worked tirelessly with several rescue groups, and was a regular donor to the ASPCA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a local rescue in Ed’s name if you want to remember him.

The family will hold a Remembrance of Life for Ed and we will announce the details here as soon as they are finalized.
