Edward Ralph Gitz, 69, of Lengby, MN died on Friday, August 4, 2023, at his home in Lengby, Minnesota.

Edward was born on April 8, 1954 to August and Lillian (Ihrke) Gitz in Fosston, MN. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1973 and from Alexandria Technical College in 1974.

He married Debra Irene Richer on August 2, 1975 in Bemidji, MN and together they raised their two daughters. They later divorced, but remained good friends.

Edward worked at farming with his brother, David, for many years. He started driving milk truck for NFO in 1990 for many years and then later went to over the road truck driving, eventually retiring in 2022 from Korsmo Bros. in Northwood, ND. Edward loved to read and had a large collection of books. He was passionate about farming and loved raising animals.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Irene Gitz of Bemidji, MN and Glenda Gitz of Bemidji, MN; his grandchildren, Sammi (Devin) Perry of Bemidji, MN, Kaitlyn Lukanen of Bemidji, MN, Aaron Lukanen of Hackensack, MN, and Korbin Gitz of Bemidji, MN; great grandsons, Tyler Iceman and Jax Perry; his brothers, David (Jo) Gitz of Shevlin, MN and Donald Gitz of Maple, WI; one nephew; one niece; four great nieces; one great nephew; and his special friend, Debra Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Lillian Gitz; his niece, Rochelle Gitz; his great grandson, Leo John Perry; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
