Edna Aurelia Ramos

October 21, 1937 – June 28, 2024

Tucson, AZ, USA

Born and raised in The Bronx, Edna was fiercely proud of her New York roots and her Puerto Rican heritage. She would often reminisce about her teenage years growing up near Crotona Park, her time at Theodore Roosevelt High School, and her trips to Arthur Avenue (the Little Italy of the Bronx).

After many years at home raising her 2 daughters, which she considered her life's greatest accomplishment, she embarked on a career in the printing industry, working her way up to print production manager.

Edna retired to Portland Maine, where she spent the next 16 years enjoying walks around Casco Bay, volunteering at St. Elizabeth's in the kindergarten classroom, thrifting, going to book readings at the local libraries, traveling with family or to visit family, and spending time with her nephew, great nieces, and extended relations.

In 2014, Edna moved to Tucson, Arizona to be closer to her daughters, Roxane and Toni, son-in-law Presley, and grandsons Nizhone and Nabahi. It is with them that she spent her last 10 years, creating memories that her disease so cruelly robbed from her.

It is our hope that those whose lives Edna touched will hold on to happy memories made and laughter shared. If you are so inclined, please write a memory (or 2, or 3) that you have of Edna. If the thought of it makes you laugh, even better -- she would love that!
