In Loving Memory of Edith

Edith Boswell, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born at home on August 23, 1943, in Collins, Missouri, to Rose (Foster) and Andy Routh.

Edith grew up in Weaubleau, Missouri, where she attended high school. After graduation, she and a small group of close friends moved to Kansas City, eager to begin their adult lives and embrace the opportunities of the “Big City.”

In 1962, Edith married the love of her life, Durl Boswell. They had known each other since the age of ten, and their lifelong bond was one rooted in friendship, devotion, and deep love. Together, they built a home and raised their family in Liberty, Missouri. Edith was a devoted wife and a loving, hands-on mother who generously gave her time - volunteering at her children’s schools, serving as a scout leader, and always putting family first.

Edith enjoyed a successful 27-year career in real estate, where her warmth and integrity left a lasting impression. Many of her coworkers and clients became treasured friends. After retiring, she devoted herself fully to what mattered most to her - spending as much time as possible with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Otis, Wayne, and Gene.

Edith is survived by her beloved husband, Durl; her son, Duane Boswell (Taffy); her granddaughter, Rachael (Allen); and her triplet great-granddaughters, Destanie, Morgan, and Jade; granddaughters, Sarah, Danielle, and Amy. She is also survived by her daughter, Annette Teson (Mike), and grandchildren, Peter, Tommy, and Rose; her brother, Homer Routh; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

A visitation and celebration of Edith’s life will be held at Hathaway Peterman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Missouri, on Friday, December 26, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to NorthCare Hospice House in loving memory of Edith Boswell at kchospice.org/donate.
