Eddie Darnell Rodgers
April 8, 1963 – October 18, 2026
Minneapolis, MN, USA
Eddie Darnell Rodgers was born on April 8, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Joe Rodgers and Dorothy Mae Henderson. He was the sixth of eight children. On October 18, 2026, Eddie peacefully entered into eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joe Rodgers and Dorothy Mae Henderson, and his brother, Torien Dion Henderson.
Eddie accepted Christ and was baptized in a Holiness church in East St. Louis, Illinois, on July 1, 1976. He received his education in East St. Louis and graduated from Cahokia High School in 1980. In 1981, he continued his education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he majored in Political Science and proudly participated on the High Diving Team.
In 1983, Eddie made his home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following an accident that left him paraplegic, Eddie faced life’s challenges with determination, courage, and an unwavering spirit. He participated in the Special Olympics and became a passionate motivational speaker and advocate for individuals with physical disabilities. Through his words, actions, and personal journey, Eddie inspired others to recognize that life’s challenges do not define one’s potential.
Above all, Eddie was a loving father whose children meant the world to him. He cherished the Word of God, and his faith remained an important part of his life. His strength, resilience, and ability to encourage others will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Amber Marie Staub of St. Louis, Missouri; Jaron Darnell Rodgers of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Jordan Rodgers of Duluth, Minnesota.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved siblings: Bob Jackson, Althea Barnes, and Michael Henderson, all of Atlanta, Georgia; Ben Henderson of Lincoln, Nebraska; Cassandra Henderson of Mascoutah, Illinois; and Demetrice Spriggs of Granite City, Illinois.
He is further survived by his great-aunt, Adlener Brunner of St. Louis, Missouri, along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and loved ones.
Though Eddie’s earthly journey has come to an end, the memories he created, the lives he touched, the obstacles he overcame, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and the power of the human spirit. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
