life story

In Loving Memory of

Dr. Stanley G. “Skip” Peterson II

Skip Peterson, age 78, passed away on April 22, 2026, at the St. Cloud VA Hospice. Born on June 21, 1947, in Waukon, Iowa, Skip lived a life defined by dedication, adventure, and deep love for his family.

During his early years, Skip grew up in Mississippi, Iowa, California, and Minnesota. From the time he was born, he cherished spending his summers at the family cabin in Hackensack, MN. He attended school in Mankato, MN, until his junior year before moving to River Falls, WI, where he completed his Senior year and was Co-Captain of the Swim Team. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, majoring in Pre-Dental from 1965 to 1969, where he was also a member of his college swim team.

Skip was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Pamela Peterson, on November 29th, 1968. They would have celebrated their beautiful 58th anniversary this year.

He attended Loyola Dental School in Maywood, Illinois, from 1969 to 1973. During this demanding time, he also worked at Cook County Hospital, performing the duties of a nurse. In his final year of dental school, Skip and Pam joyfully welcomed their son, Erik.

Skip proudly served his country in the Air Force as a dentist from 1973 to 1975. Stationed in the Philippines, he and Pam enjoyed scuba diving in the South China Sea and traveling to several Asian countries. Their daughter, Tiffany, was born before the family headed back to the States.

In 1975, Skip and his family relocated to Milaca, MN. There, he established a successful dental practice, faithfully serving the health of his community for more than 30 years.

A man of many passions, Skip thoroughly enjoyed boating on Lake Superior, traveling, reading, gardening, playing cards, woodworking, golfing, and cultivating orchids. He never lost his love for the water, enjoying diving and snorkeling throughout his life. Above all else, his greatest joy was the time spent with his family and grandchildren.
