life story

Beautiful Mother & Grandma

Our hearts are broken with the passing of our beloved, 94-years-young Mother and Grandma, Donna M. Almleaf. But we are grateful she was with us for so many years. We are also happy and at peace knowing she is enjoying a better place.

Donna had a generous spirit and was always willing to give of her time and attention. Her door was always an open invitation to come visit (even if she was sleeping in late which she always did). She brought laughter to the table and fun everywhere she went, especially with her grandkids. Even in her advanced years, she shared her thoughts and opinions with everyone. Her jokes, her tenderness, sweetness, and strength made her so endearing to all who knew her.

Donna had the wonderful blessing of having children and grandchildren gather around her in her final days and moments on Earth. She will be missed and remembered always.

With Love,

About Donna

Born Donna M. Powers on July 1, 1928 in Hastings, Minnesota. Donna lived most of her life in Minnesota. She was one of 10 children.

Donna had 6 children: Cindy, Terry, Carol, Patty, Jim, and Margie. And then came her true pride and joy - her 12 grandchildren. Donna enjoyed children deeply. She was always wanting to babysit, cuddle, and rock little ones to sleep. She also had a passion for sweets. Hot fudge sundaes, chocolate chip cookies with walnuts, Raisinettes, and Hershey bars with almonds were just a few of her favorites.

Donna was always up for going to a movie or shopping. A common phrase she would say was “Let’s go bumm’n!” She always managed to stay classy, stylish, and up-to-date. And she was usually ready with a suggestion on how you could do the same. She even had a flair for interior design and a love affair with throw pillows. In fact if you knew Donna well, you probably fell victim to her trying to give you a throw pillow she didn’t want any more.

Donna truly never, ever looked her age. Her beauty advice was always to "moisturize, moisturize, moisturize." She was timeless and will live on with adoration in our hearts and memories.

If Donna could tell you one thing right now she would probably say, “This too shall pass.” She said this to her children and grandchildren when we were discouraged. Donna was right! The days and years pass quickly, so live your days wisely and live them in love.

“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
