About Don

Donald Blooflat, 79, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab Center in Bagley, Minnesota.

Don was born on January 19, 1945, in Bemidji, Minnesota, the son of Archie and Henrietta (Anderson) Blooflat. Don was raised in Bemidji and was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1963, and attended Bemidji State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Don married Marlys (Netland) on August 26, 1965, in Roy Lake, Minnesota. In 1966, they found their way to Michigan for a few months, as Don was playing in a band. Later that year, on December 19, 1966, their first-born son Bradley Brent was born. Soon after, they made their way back to Minnesota and made their forever home south of Bagley.

On November 5, 1970, the family welcomed a girl, Jennifer Ann. To complete their family, their youngest son, Brent Donald was born on January 10, 1982. Don was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Don worked as the Administrator for the Clearwater County Day Activity Center and the Pine Ridge Residence for over 30 years, retiring in 2013. Many may also remember Don as a singer and guitar player for many years with the Wynkoop Brothers. They performed at several town hall dances, weddings, and anniversary dances throughout northern Minnesota. Playing and listening to music brought tremendous joy to Don’s life. Don also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dancing with Marlys, (when he wasn’t playing in the bands), playing cards and watching the Minnesota Vikings.

Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlys Blooflat of Bagley, MN.

Son-Brent (Amy) Blooflat and Grandson-Oliver Bradley Blooflat of Bagley, MN.

Along with several nieces, nephews and family members.

He is preceded in death by his son-Bradley and his daughter-Jennifer; his parents-Archie & Henrietta Blooflat; siblings-Allen and infant brother Lloyd, Lowell, Louise, and Archie; nieces and nephew-Bonnie, Butch, and Cindi; In-laws-Wallert & Myrtle Netland.

Funeral Services for Don

Rev. Genelle Netland will be officiating the service at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be held at the Nora Township Cemetery.
