Donald Henry Mills, Jr., 70, of Blackduck, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Donald was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on February 3, 1952 to Byrdie and Donald Mills, Sr. He was raised in St. Paul, MN by his mother, Byrdie and his step-dad, Roy Edward Moody. Together they raised 9 children.

Donald joined the Marine Corp and served for 12 years, serving in the Vietnam War and also several countries.

Donald and his wife Andrea made their home in Blackduck, MN, first in the country and later in an apartment in town. While in the country, Donald purchased a beautiful blue grill, which he loved. He spent many hours on the deck grilling for parties for family and friends. He also loved his little Scion (Boxie), and took great care of her, cleaning and polishing every day; until he spotted a Buick in Bemidji. Boxie was quickly forgotten and all his labor went into the Buick.

Donald was an excellent cook and a “neat freak,” cleaning and straightening constantly. Andrea will miss that.

He bravely fought his bout with cancer, but it was of short duration and claimed his life way too quickly. He died peacefully at his home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Donald is survived by his wife, Andrea Kay (Annie); 5 children, Donald Jr., Carrie, Scott, Natoyia, and Morgan; sisters and brothers, Donna Stanford, Wayne, Roxanne, Monique, and Rayvonne; 15 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; step-dad; dad; sister Terri; and brother Kirk.
