Donald Fred Hemenway, 82 of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Monday August 1, 2022. Donald was born September 19, 1939 in Wadena, MN. The son of Fred Charles and Ellen Henrietta (Vogtman) Hemenway.

He grew up and attended Park Rapids Schools, graduating in 1957. After his mother’s passing, his father married Bonnie (Burnham) Hemenway in June of 1957. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves in September of 1957. Afterwards, he continued farming on the family farm. He married Gloria Schneider in April of 1964. They raised five children on the homestead farm.

He then married Dorothy Holland Sept. 1998. They were happily married until her passing on Dec. 7, 2019. He was an active member of the Church of Christ serving as an Elder. He enjoyed farming, but his pride was refurbishing and rebuilding antique tractors.

He took joy in helping others in any we he could. He loved and collected international pickup trucks. He looked forward to the family farm becoming a century farm next year.

He is survived by his stepbrothers Allen and Marvin. His 5 children Kevin (Laura), Kerry (Shanette), Kathy, Karla (Scott), and Kenny (Denise). His 3 stepsons; Roy (Sandra), Jeff (Brenda), and Alvin (Ann). He had 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Along with several step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ellen and his stepmother Bonnie. His second wife Dorothy, his stepsister Marlys, a stepdaughter Julie, and 2 great granddaughters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 5 until 7 PM at the Cease Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the services at the church.
