A kind heart and a passion for baking

Dominick Lee Long, born August 4 ,1947, in Bernville PA, fell asleep in the Lord on June 14, 2025 at age of 77 in Reading, PA. He was a member of the Kenhorst SDA Church. He was predeceased by his parents: Franklin R. Long and Georgia Lupo Long, his two brothers, Robert, Franklin Jr., and his two older sisters, Mary and Doris. He is survived by his daughter (Michelle Long), his son (Matthew Long), his 3 brothers (Warren Long, Wayne Long, and Terry Long), and sister (Pamela Dziedzic).

If you knew Dominick, at one time or another, you can probably say he cooked or baked for you. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, his big heart, compassion, and faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more who had the privilege of knowing him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the compassion and laughter he shared with everyone.

After his graduation from Conrad Weiser High School, Dominick embarked on a mission to spread the message of love and hope. For a short time, he studied Theology at Andrews University. He later worked at Green Hills Manor serving as a cook and food service director. His dedication to sharing his cooking and baking talent led to baking wedding and event cakes. Following his desire to bring light and beauty to others, he attended floral design classes that led him to creating flower arrangements for weddings, birthdays, and many other events. He also found great joy in creating live gardens as well, always knowing just the right colors and flowers to landscape any area. Later in his life, he worked for Reading Junior Academy in Reading, PA. He was loved and well-known for making people laugh and his big heart. His volunteer work involved cooking for churches and schools. Dominick found joy in preparing meals and finding loving gifts to celebrate seasons, sacraments, birthdays, and anniversaries. His shoofly pies, peanut butter eggs, and cookies were family favorites.

Those who knew Dominick will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his faith in Jesus, and his unwavering commitment to spreading the good news of God's saving grace. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
