Hopkins, MN, USA

Diane Marie Schutts passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at the age of 79 after a brave battle with cancer. Diane was born on December 27, 1944, in Minneapolis, to parents Joseph and Lorraine Taylor. The eldest of five children, Diane grew up attending Christ the King. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels in 1962 and then attended Ellsworth College. Diane started her professional career in the Twin Cities metro spending time in real estate, before working with Business Incentives, and later at Four D Inc. Diane had many talents and a remarkable ability to connect with others.

She married Ronald “Ron” Schutts in 1967 and they were blessed with a remarkable 57-year marriage. Diane and Ron began their family in Minnesota, then spent their later years together in Southern Pines, NC and Glen Allen, VA where they enjoyed golfing, exploring around town, going to the beach, and many get-togethers with wonderful friends. Diane and Ron returned to Minnesota in 2019 upon retirement where they most recently resided in Hopkins, MN. Together, the two of them built a family and a life filled with endless love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Diane was a devoted mother to her daughter Michelle and her sons Matt and Joe. In addition to being a mother, being “Nana” to her six grandchildren was truly one of her greatest joys in life. As “Nana”, Diane took her grandchildren on countless adventures over the years. From hosting tea parties to playing board games, exploring the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, and going on ice cream dates - she absolutely loved spending time with them.

She had a great spirit of adventure, cultivating enriching experiences through travels to the UK and Switzerland during her life. Those who knew Diane often saw her with a camera in hand. She had an artistic eye for capturing the beauty of life’s moments through photos. A generous host, she created a home that was warm and inviting where everyone felt welcome. The holiday season was a particularly special time for her and her family. Additionally, she will be remembered for her caring nature, thoughtfulness, and selflessness. Diane left a mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her and will be deeply missed.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Lorraine and Joseph Taylor, her brother Michael Taylor Sr., and nephew Christopher Reiland. Diane is survived by her husband Ron, her children Michelle (John) Harris, Matt (Diane) Schutts, and Joe (Katie) Schutts, her brothers Bob (Gayle) Taylor and Dan (Eileen) Taylor, and her sister Mary Reiland. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Ian Harris, Taylor Harris, Delaney Schutts, Isabelle Schutts, Cooper Schutts, and Charlie Schutts, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Diane's life will be celebrated privately with family and friends on what would have been her 80th birthday: December 27th, 2024. Her legacy is woven into the lives she touched. Diane will be dearly missed, but fondly remembered for her endless love and generous spirit which will live on through all of her loved ones.
