About Dennis

Dennis Gordon, 81, of Shevlin, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Neilson Place in Bemidji, Minnesota with his family by his side.

Dennis Milfred was born on March 28, 1942, the son of Alfred and Mildred (Landmark) Gordon. As a youth Dennis attended Shevlin School and graduated from Bagley High School on May 27, 1962. On August 8, 1964, Dennis married Elaine (Halvorson) God giving them four children: Candi, Joni, Tina, and Brian. They later divorced. On September 25, 1999, Dennis married Janice (Gerbracht-Erickson) in Leonard MN. Sadly, Janice passed away from cancer on December 14, 2004.

Dennis lived in Shevlin, MN for most of his life, where he served on the City Council and was also Mayor of Shevlin for many years. He was a member of the Clearwater Lutheran Church in Shevlin and was a retired member of the Shevlin Volunteer Fire Department. Dennis worked various jobs throughout his life, retiring from Great Lakes Gas on April 1, 2000.

He enjoyed his “Brunch” at various cafes during retirement, where all the waitresses new his menus. In his spare time, he was a fan of watching game shows and good old westerns on TV. He loved country music, stockcar races, and for many years even had his own bowling team.

On April 10, 2010, Dennis had his first date with Polly Holm and they have been inseparable ever since. Always reminding each other every year on April 10th of their “Special Day.” Together they enjoyed dancing, snowmobiling, and camping at Pioneer Farmers.

Dennis is survived by his Lady Friend - Polly Holm of Bemidji, MN.

Children: Candi (Mike) Smith of Shevlin, MN.

Joni (Kenny) Dahlke of Bagley, MN.

Tina (Tim LaFriniere) Swenson of Waubun, MN.

Brian (Alicia) Gordon of Andover, MN.

Brother-Jerome “Jerry” Gordon of Shevlin, MN.

10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his wife, Jan Gordon and his parents Alfred and Mildred Gordon.

Funeral Services for Dennis

September 27, 2023

Location: Clearwater Lutheran Church in Shevlin, Minnesota with Pastor Mark Kuleta officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery in Shevlin, MN.
