Delbert Richard Maruska, 75, of Shevlin, Minnesota died on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Sanford Bagley Medical Center.

Delbert was born in Shevlin, Minnesota on November 13, 1946 to Arthur and Gertrude (Jaworski) Maruska. He attended Country School in the rural Shevlin area until he was needed to help the family with farming and logging.

In his younger years, Delbert worked security at the Shevlin Dance Hall. It was there he met the love of his life, Vicky Helseth. The two were married December 22, 1968 in Bemidji, Minnesota. They lived in Bagley for awhile before moving to the family farm back in Shevlin, where they raised their four children.

Delbert stayed busy farming and tending to the milk cows, pigs, sheep, and assortment of other animals on the farm. In his spare time he loved to deer hunt, spend time with his grandkids, and in more recent years, try his hand at metal detecting. His grandkids, as well as a few of the farm critters, knew him to be quite the jokester. Delbert was a hardworking and dedicated man. He was loving and helpful father, husband, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Maruska; his children, Lori Sletten, Stacy (Derrick) Peterson, Delbert (Tracy) Maruska, and David Maruska; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his siblings, Eileen (Leonard) Christenson, Rose Craig, and Jerome Maruska; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gertrude Maruska; his siblings, Benny Maruska, Gary Maruska, Allen Maruska, Josephine Stendlund, and Barbara Schwartz; and other dear family members.
