About Debra

Debra grew up in West St. Paul and graduated from Henry Sibley High School in 1972. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Portz; her beloved husband, Richard Lange; and her son, Chad Schweiger.

Debra married the love of her life, Richard Lange, and together they built a family centered on love and devotion. She was the proud mother of three boys, whom she loved more than life itself. While she worked at a bakery and other small-town businesses over the years, her primary and most cherished role was that of homemaker—and she was exceptional at it.

Debra found joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She loved to cook and was known for making the very best comfort food. Baking was another passion, and she delighted in sharing delicious homemade treats with those she loved. She took great pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and loving home where her family could live fully and happily.

She was also very crafty, with a talent for creating beautiful decorative pieces as well as altering and repairing clothing. Her hands were rarely idle, and her creativity showed in everything she touched.

Debra deeply loved her pets, who brought her companionship and joy throughout the years. While she had several beloved animals, Jaunty and Buffy held a particularly special place in her heart, especially during the years when her boys were busy with school and Richard was hard at work.

Surrounded by her loving family, Debra passed away peacefully.

A very private person, Debra did not want a large or formal service, and her family is honoring her wishes. Those who knew and loved her are invited to share memories in whatever way feels right—whether here, on social media, or by reaching out to surviving family members. Any remembrance, shared in love, is a beautiful way to celebrate Debra’s life.
