Deanna "Dee" McKinstry-Edwards actress, singer, writer
Deanna McKinstry-Edwards (née McKinstry) of Carmel CA passed away at Stanford Hospital on June 22, 2025.
“Dee” was the beloved wife of the late Robert Miles Edwards, renowned voice coach, who predeceased her in 2021.
Dee was a professional actress, singer, writer, lecturer, and Pushcart Prize nominated poet who held a doctoral degree in Mythology and Depth Psychology and taught courses in Ecopsychology. She was the author of several books, and her memoir Psyche, Eros, and Me, is an epic self-exploration through mythology.
Originally from Massachusetts and New England, Dee moved to California to pursue her multi-faceted career and made many dear friends and relatives who will miss her kind and wonderful presence; she is survived by her brother-in-law John Edwards of Athens Ohio.
Deanna and her husband of over forty years, Robert, resided in Carmel since 2007 with their two cherished English Setters, Tessa and Calder.
