Dayton Nels Kornkven, 72, Park Rapids, MN passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Dayton was born July 8, 1951 at Bottineau, ND to Nels and Ruth (Gravseth) Kornkven. He grew up on the family farm near Souris, ND and attended Souris High School. He graduated from the University of North Dakota where he met the love of his life, Michelle French. They married on August 18, 1973.

They lived in Grafton, ND where Dayton ran his own construction company. Dayton and Michelle have one son, Tony. In 2013 Dayton retired and he and his wife moved to Park Rapids.

Dayton is survived by his wife of 50 years, Michelle; son, Tony; sister, Geraldine Siercks; and brother, Donald.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Owen.

Visitation will be held at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
