life story

I think of you when I think about forever

David recently became enamored with Pink's song "When I get There." Please look it up and have a listen...

"I think of you when I think about forever

I hear a joke and I know you would have told it better

I think of you out of the blue"....

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Peter Bahl, beloved husband, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and friend. David passed on June 1, 2023, surrounded by his husband and loving family members.

Born on October 13, 1960, in Davisville, RI., David was the son of Donald and Doloris Bahl (née Gates) (both deceased).

David graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Racine Wisconsin in 1978. Subsequently, he studied business administration at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

David worked in the restaurant industry for 35+ years, eventually serving as Vice President of Human Resources for Leeann Chin. He met his husband Mark, 41 years ago, while both were working at the restaurant Bistro Bartholomew in Racine. A good friend said it best "how lucky were you both to find your life partner right out of the gate? What a blessing."

David was an avid sports fan. He loved his "Cubbies", and all the heartbreak that came with that. He was a passionate foodie, enjoying cuisines of all sorts. He and his husband Mark were often amongst the first to check out the new "hot spots". They also enjoyed exploring restaurants during their many travels.

Above all, David loved his family and many friends. He is survived by his husband, and partner of 41 years, Mark Shaw of Port Orange, Fl., his beloved in-laws, Richard and Jean Shaw of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., his siblings, William (m. Kristin (d)) Bahl (St. Paul, MN), Thomas (m. Karen (d)) Bahl (Minneapolis, MN), Doloris (Deb) (m. Ron) Bahl-Moore (Minneapolis, MN), Richard (m. David Raleigh) Bahl (NY, NY), his brother in-law Robert (m. Christopher) Shaw (Atlanta, GA), sister-in-law Joleen (m. Buddy) Reece (Atlanta, GA), brother-in-law Charles (m. Linda) Shaw (Marion, IL), and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen (m. Richard) Woelfel and Donna Bahl.
