A surprise package
Dave was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, but moved with his family to White Bear Lake, Minnesota while just a toddler. There he spent a good portion of his life raising his kids, Connie and Adam. In 2003, he and his wife, Jayme, moved to some acreage in Scandia, MN where they both fulfilled dreams of living in a small town in the country.
Dave was a devoted father, passing on his love of swimming on to connie. Dave was also active with the Boy Scouts, beginning as den leader of Adam’s Cub Scout troop and continuing in Scout activities until Adam achieved Eagle Scout. Dave enjoyed attending anything involving his grandchildren Dana and Brian participated.
A staunch union advocate, Dave was a member of Pipefitter Local #455 for over 50 years and strong believed in the power of unions.
An advocate of civic duty, Dave volunteered with many organizations, but the most pride came from being a member of the Pipefitter-Steamfitter Credit Union, where he served for over 20 years on the Board of Directors, including chairman.
Although Dave was a quiet man, he was a man full of big laughs. He had a keen sense of humor, evident in his many one-liners. His humor played a big part in his work at Metropolitan Council. Many a tale has been told of the antics of he and his partners over the years. When spinning a yarn, he would truly laugh out loud and make it hard for his listeners not to laugh with him.
Dave was also known as an accomplished problem solver. He had an analytical mind and could solutions to seemingly impossible tasks. He had an extensive knowledge of plumbing, electricity and HVAC that he had learned over the years and using that knowledge, made many renovations and improvements to both his homes in White Bear Lake and Scandia, as well as those of friends and relatives. If he couldn’t fix it, he knew a buddy who could.
Being a dedicated Vikings and Twins fan, Dave held on tothe everlasting hope of a Super Bowl game or another World Series.
Dave was well liked and loved by all who knew him. He held those close to him in his heart and always thought of them before himself.
