Darrell Molloy Hart

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend

Darrell Molloy Hart, 84, of Edina, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, with loved ones by his side on Sunday, October 18, 2026

Born on June 28, 1942 in Davenport, IA to Luther Shanks and Theresa (Yates) Hart. Moving to Robbinsdale in 1955, Darrell graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1960 where he served as class president. He later graduated from the University of Minnesota and received his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law.

Darrell practiced law for nearly four decades as a partner at Hanson Dordell. Following his retirement, he treasured time spent at his lake home and property in the Ponsford area with family and friends who meant so much to him.

Darrell loved his family unconditionally, but one of the most transformative moments of his life was becoming a grandfather, aka ‘Papa’. He was immensely proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.

A lover of the outdoors and culinary experiences, Darrell found happiness in sharing the things he loved with those closest to him. Whether fishing and hunting up north, tending his bountiful vegetable gardens and cooking, flying his Cessna airplane, and road trips to visit family and friends, he created lasting memories through the simple pleasures of time spent together.

Darrell was a kind, stoic man whose quiet strength and generous spirit touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was always willing to lend a hand and rarely hesitated to help someone in need. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the lives he touched will carry his legacy forward.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 52 years, Michele “Miki”; sons Christopher and Darren (Kim Reiter); daughters Kelley and Molly (Jake Colsch); grandchildren Sean Vinge, Vincent, Adeline, Jameson, and Ben; great-grandchildren Olivia and Tatum Vinge; sister Joyce Evans, niece and nephews, and the many dear friends who became family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Shanks; mother, Theresa (Yates) Hart; stepfather, Clarence Hart; and sister, Gloria Hart.

A small memorial service will be held at Amira Choice on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 1:30pm.
