Cori was born to Clarence and Edna Amundson at their farm in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, MN. She was baptized at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, and attended District 38 country school. Because of her father’s failing health, their farm was rented out and the family moved to Lamberton, MN in 1944. She was confirmed at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1949, worked at Pehrson Lodge Resort on Lake Vermilion that summer, and moved to Minneapolis.
After graduating from Minneapolis Business College in 1950, she began her secretarial career in the Agricultural Department of F. H. Peavey and Company, where she worked for over eight years.
She met Harold Olsrud at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, which they attended. Both were members of the University and Business League at the church. They were married November 24, 1956 at Sharon Lutheran Church. Harold’s father, Rev. Oscar L. Olsrud officiated. Harold and Cori moved to their first home in Fridley, MN in December of 1958, and joined St. Philip’s Lutheran Church the following year.
Cori started working part-time at St. Philip’s in November, 1973 and retired as full-time Administrative Secretary in May, 1997. At St. Philip’s she worked with twenty pastors and interns over the years. She continued her education at several word processing classes and secretarial workshops.
In 1997 she began working part-time at Dayton’s in Rosedale Center, specializing in watches and fashion jewelry. She retired from Marshall Field's in November, 2005.
At St. Philip’s, Cori was active in the nursery, membership, and altar committees, chaired a circle, assisted the financial secretary, served as vice president of the ALCW, and volunteered in the office. At Hayes School in Fridley, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide and co-chaired the teacher’s aide program.
Cori will be remembered as a warm, generous, wise person whose home served as the hub of family activities.
