About Coreen

Coreen Louise Kliner, 61, of Bagley, MN, passed away on December 18, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born November 14, 1961, in Bagley, the daughter of Donald and Edith (Swenson) Campbell. She graduated in 1981 from Bagley High School. As an adult, later graduating from Bemidji Technical College with a AS Degree in Business Management.

Coreen grew up a hard and dedicated worker and this was demonstrated throughout her life. As a high school student, she began working for Stinar’s Shady Oak Nursery and Mileage Truckstop and Café. After high school, she continued as a server at the Chicken Bar and Grill, staying on after new ownership as the Great Northern Bar and Grill. During this time, she made lots of memories working with family and bringing joy to many customers.

Coreen grew in her career as a professional server as she began working for Douglas Lodge at Itasca State Park where she worked for over 30 years. Coreen was a “go-getter” and wasn’t one to sit still, this led her to pick up work in the off season at DaRoo’s Pizza, Bagley Elementary School as an early education para, Hot Stuff Pizza, and Holiday Inn.

After pursuing her college degree, Coreen continued to work at Itasca State Park as part of the management team at Mary Gibbs Café and worked there up until her illness prevented her from doing so. Coreen used her creative talent and was famous for her side job of designing beautiful cakes and cupcakes for various celebrations throughout the community.

Coreen was strong in her faith and devoted to her family, which was proven through everything she did. Coreen was baptized and confirmed. She was joined in marriage to Rick Kliner on May 31, 1980 and became a mother on November 2, 1980. Becoming a wife and mom did not slow Coreen down, she was determined to finish out her senior year of high school to its fullest and had her baby girl with her at school events and on her graduation day.

Coreen never did anything at a slow pace. In high school she soared as a sprinter in track and field and ran along the sidelines to cheer on the football players. Coreen was a “Class-A” cheerleader – from cheering on wrestlers in high school, to cheering on her kids in track, cross-country, hockey and Tae-Kwon-Do. Her focal point in life was her family. Coreen was an extremely devoted wife and proud mother.

Coreen loved to make memories by celebrating every holiday from making Halloween costumes and dressing up with her kiddos, cooking for days to host Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. At weddings and anniversaries, she would tear up the dancefloor – world famous “Wipeout” dancer.

Coreen loved to garden, can, sew, embroider, camp, play with kids, make memories, and always make everyone feel important and loved. She knew every creative and fun tactic to keep kids entertained. Coreen cherished being a grandma and her grandbabies filled her soul.

Coreen's kind-hearted, gentle soul provided her an avenue to serve others, she was full of energy and grace. She exemplified her love by always being willing to help anyone with her positive, “can-do” attitude. If you asked Coreen for help, she was there for you. She will always serve in our hearts as a light filled with hope, grace, and enduring love. May God continue to bless her memory for all who loved her so dearly.
