Connie's Life and Adventures

Connie was born in South Bend, IN on July 4, 1943 to Bill & Anne Malec. A photo was even published in the South Bend Tribune documenting her Independence Day birth! She grew up on a small farm outside of New Carlisle, IN, and spent countless hours at her grandparents' bakery with her many cousins and large extended Indiana family. On January 7, 1961 Connie married Tom Williams. They recently celebrated 62 years! They settled down in South Bend and then moved to a lovely farm just outside of New Carlisle.

In 1974, Connie and Tom packed up their three kids and drove NW to Minnesota, landing in the Frazee/Vergas area where Tom had spent summers as a child. They lived for a few months in a rental property that was previously a "fox farm" then moved into a farm down the road where they lived for a number of years... raising kids and all the animals they could take in; horses, chickens, sheep, goats, dogs & cats. Connie wasn't the caretaker for any of the "hobby farm" but she certainly made the big old farmhouse a beautiful home for her family. Once the kids were out of high school, Connie & Tom moved to the Twin Cities suburbs where they lived for many years. In the mid 2000's they hit the road for 10 years in their 36' motorhome, traveling most of the US, making many new friends along the way. Their final stop was in the southern suburb of Lakeville, MN settling in a cozy townhome near Mary, Jack, Ron and their grandkids.

Her family was the most important part of her life and her greatest accomplishment was raising three children, watching them grow into adults, and spoiling her 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Connie had a great sense of style. She loved the whimsical and artsy things in life. Creating macrame in the 70's with Tom, they spent many weekends traveling to art festivals and shows across Minnesota, North and South Dakota. She liked listening to music and attended many small venue shows with family and friends over the years. She enjoyed playing euchre and games and loved having a couple of cold beers. She loved taking weekend drives and mini day trips around the area with Tom, often stopping to see the sights and explore along the way.

Preceding Connie in death was her father Bill Malec, mother Anne (Muszynski) Malec and sister Eleanor Schnable. Forever missing her is Tom Williams, her husband of 62 years, daughters Mary Ann (Mark) Sullivan, Rosemount, MN and Jackie (Daryl) Heinis, Lakeville, MN, son Ron (Holly) Williams, New Market, MN, grandchildren Ashley (Rich) Hauge, Shawn Goodman, Jenna, Justin & Luke Sullivan, Kacy Alfson (Alex Behrns), Leah Putz, Tomi & Derek Williams, great-grandchildren Addison & Broten Hauge and sister Rose (Dan) Horak. Additionally, her Aunt Trudy, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

We all miss her dearly! Cancer can suck it!

A special thank you to MN Hospice Care Team; Alyssa, Josey, Tamara, Anna, Denise & Megan. You are all amazing.
