Clarence Oscar Johnson, 80, of Blackduck, MN passed away Tuesday January 9th, 2024 at Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck.
Clarence was born May 25th, 1943 to William and Irene Johnson. He was a lifelong member of Blackduck where he attended school and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1961.
Following graduation, Clarence moved to Colorado for a short amount of time working for the Dillon Dam in Frisco and after for the Climax Mine. After his time in Colorado, Clarence returned to Blackduck to pursue his logging passion. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1964 and served for 6 years.
On September 2nd, 1967 Clarence married the love of his life Carol J. Michalek. He began logging with his brothers before starting, C.O. Johnson Logging Inc. with the help of his wife. He was an active member of the Minnesota Timber Producers Association and was the President of the Association from 2001-2004.
Clarence’s most treasured moments were with his family, traveling, canoeing, and riding motorcycle. Once Clarence became a grandfather, he enjoyed spending quality time with his seven grandchildren. Throughout his life, Clarence enjoyed serving as a church elder, being on many different church boards, building communities, Deeper Life Bible Camp board, as well as numerous other boards and committees. He loved the Lord and accepted him as his personal savior and spread his love for the Lord.
Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, Carol J. Johnson, son, Wayne M. Johnson of Lincolnton, GA. Daughters, Lynette K. (Corey) Lovdahl of Effie, MN, and Judy A. (Rick) Savich of Blackduck, MN. Seven grandchildren he was blessed with, Slayde, Peyton Johnson, Jared, Jackson Lovdahl, Brody, Dayne, and Hanna Savich. Brother, Larry (Joyce) Johnson, brother-in laws Andy (Debbie) Michalek, Mark Michalek, sister in laws, Peggy (Derrell) Gross, Ruth Michalek, Ruth (LaRue) Forseen. Step brothers, Richard (Audrey) Michalicek, Harry (Kay) Michalicek, Ken (Jan) Michalicek. Step sisters, Jolaine (Rodney) Boreen and Marilyn (Nyle) Pasko, including many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Johnson, step father, Mike Michalicek, brother, Walter Johnson, and brother in law, Russell Michalek.

Funeral Services for Clarence
January 13, 2024
Location: Evangelical Covenant Church in Blackduck, MN with Pastor Tim Pomp officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12th at the Cease Funeral Home in Blackduck, MN and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN.
