Living with Strength: Cindy's Legacy of Love and Perseverance

Cindy faced life’s greatest challenges with unwavering strength and unshakable love. Despite living with physical disability and severe Schizophrenia for much of her life, she never gave up. Her courage in the face of adversity and her dedication to family and friends are an inspiration to all who knew her. May her story bring hope to others and raise awareness for those battling mental health struggles.

A Life of Courage: Remembering Cindy Vaida

Cindy Ruth Vaida (Jones) passed away peacefully on the morning of December 20, 2024, in Roseville, MN. She was born on January 7, 1960, in Eveleth, MN, to Marilyn (Nikunen) Jones and Kenneth Jones. Cindy graduated from Eveleth High School in the Class of 1978.

Cindy had a passion for baking, cooking, and creating art. She also enjoyed playing cards and reading. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her friends and family. Known for her quick wit and a sense of humor, she never shied away from speaking her mind and would not take guff from anyone. This boldness, coupled with her charm, made her a beloved presence to those who knew her well.

Perhaps Cindy’s most admirable qualities were her strength and kindness. Despite living with debilitating physical and mental health challenges for most of her life, she faced each day with remarkable courage. Though life was difficult at times, her deep love and commitment to her family and friends helped her endure. In her final act of generosity, Cindy made a donation to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center to advance research and treatment for neurological and psychiatric conditions.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to The Friendship Home Community in Roseville for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Cindy during her time at the Lydia House. Special thanks also go to the medical professionals, mental health workers, social workers, and caretakers who supported her throughout the years.

Cindy is preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Kenneth Jones, her brother Kevin Jones, and her sister-in-law Brenda (Heppola) Jones. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Jones; sister, Renee (Joe) Overfors; daughters, Jade (Vaida) Tesdahl, Jeris (Vaida) Seiwert, and Catelin Vaida; nephews, Ryan (Brianna) Jones, Travis Jones, and Dylan, Caleb, and Casey Overfors; and grandchildren, Kayden, Kelsi, Elise, and Logan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
