Raise a "Little" Family
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Ruth Plata-Lamb, known affectionately as Cindy or Nana, on May 25th. Born on June 21, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Alvin Douglas Plata and Caryl Kric. She was the cherished sister of Larry, Wayne, and Daryl. Her life's journey began when her family moved to California during her early childhood, where she formed deep and lasting friendships.
After completing her education, Cindy's path intersected with Christopher Wade Lamb (1960-2015), the love of her life. Their love story unfolded with an intensity that defied words, and they exchanged vows on September 24, 1983. Their union was blessed with the arrival of their precious son, Nicholas Edward Lamb, on October 8, 1984, followed shortly by their daughter, Jennifer Caryl Lamb, on September 11, 1986.
Determined to provide the best life for their children, Cindy and Chris made the bold decision to uproot their family and settle in Jacksonville, Florida, during the latter part of 1990. It was there that Cindy found employment at Baptist Medical Center, while Chris embarked on a thriving automotive business. They discovered a community that embraced them and formed bonds that would last a lifetime.
Cindy's home became a sanctuary of love and acceptance, where her children's friends were welcomed with open arms. She embraced them as her own, offering them guidance, unwavering love, and a refuge where they felt safe. To these dear ones, she became an unofficial second parent, pouring her heart into their lives and cherishing them deeply.
In the spring of 2006, Cindy experienced immense joy as she witnessed Jennifer marry Michael Piechowski. This union blessed her with the arrival of her first grandson, Gavin Michael, in the late summer of the same year. Gavin held a special place in Nana's heart, and she bestowed upon him the endearing nickname "Sugala." Jennifer and Michael's family expanded further with the birth of their second son, Mason Wade, in March 2010.
Cindy's son, Nicholas, and his wife, Stephany, were blessed with the arrival of their first child, Hunter Wade, in September 2009, followed by their daughter, Emma Marie, in 2014. In 2015, Nick and Stephany united in marriage, cementing their commitment to one another and their growing family.
The legacy of Cynthia Ruth Plata-Lamb lies in the unwavering love and devotion she showered upon her family. Her home was a haven of warmth, where familial bonds grew stronger, and love blossomed amidst the trials of life. The memories she created will forever reside in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, brothers, and a vast network of extended family and dear friends.
As we mourn the loss of Cindy, let us hold dear the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the countless treasured moments she gifted us. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her grieving family find solace in the irreplaceable memories they shared during their time together.
