Charles Eugene Goodale, 91, of Northome, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls, MN.

Charles was born to Luther Eugene Goodale and Clara Belle Bilbrey (Bristow) Goodale in Wayne County, Missouri on May 8, 1930. He was the 4th oldest of 9 children. He and his siblings grew up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri in a rural farm atmosphere. He graduated from high school in 1949.

Among other jobs, Charlie worked for the National Forest Service in Washington, and the park service-Forestry at Columbia University.

Charles married Patricia Ann Barton on June 1, 1963 and they had one son, David Eugene Goodale, on December 30, 1965. In 1979, Charles and his son David moved to Northome, settling on 40 acres east of town. He again worked for the Forestry out of Blackduck, along with other jobs over the years.

He maintained a simply life style. He loved the outdoors and had various animals, including chickens, goats, horses, and dogs. Eventually son David moved to International Falls and Charlie sold the farm and moved into an apartment in Northome.

Charlie enjoyed reading, growing plants and flowers, bird watching, and hunting. An avid knife collector, he also made some himself.

Charlie is survived by his son David Goodale; sisters, Delores (Goodale) McKenzie, Virginia (Goodale) Darnell; brother, John Goodale; and many nieces, nephews and special friends, including Yvonne Reese.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Clara Belle; David’s mother, Patricia Ann; 3 half siblings; Lawrence Bristow, Martin Bristow, and Mary Louise (Bristow) Carman; and 2 siblings, Zelma (Goodale) King and Melvin Goodale.
