Celia Eleanor (Gustafsson) Larson died on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at the age of 93.

Celia was born on February 7th, 1929 to John and Betsy (Fredrickson) Gustafsson on the family farm in rural Solway, Minnesota. Celia attended Solway School and then went on to graduate from Bemidji High School in 1947.

Celia went on to attend Bemidji State Teachers College where she got her elementary school teaching degree. Celia went on to teach school in Warren, Minnesota before marrying Glenn Larson on June 28th, 1951 at the Solway Log Chapel. Celia then became a stay at home wife and mother, yet, still took time on occasion to substitute teach in area schools.

Celia was a charter member of the Solway Log Chapel where she was involved in many church activities. She taught Sunday School, was a leader in the Pioneer Girls club, taught vacation Bible School, was active in the Women’s Missionary Society, and led the church choir. Celia loved to lead Bible studies and became active in the area Christian Women’s club.

She also enjoyed being a part of the Solway Homemakers club. She loved to cook and bake and used that skill not only for her guys at home but also for entertaining the many guests who came into her home. He vast array of Christmas baking was enjoyed by all.

Celia spent a great deal of time gardening, berry picking, and canning. She also tended to flowers and plants indoors and out. She also loved to go with Glenn and the boys “scouting timber,” looking for deer and fishing in the summertime. Many times she brought the frying pan with and fried up fish right on the edge of the lakeshore.

In later years, Celia and Glenn travelled to many parts of the world. They visited distant Norwegian relatives, they toured parts of the United State and Canada, and they visited Africa, Peru, and Mexico as part of their service for the Lord with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Celia is survived by her husband of 71 years, Glenn Larson; her sons, Keith (Janie) Larson of Shevlin, Miles (Mary) Larson of Shevlin, and Kevin (Monica) of Solway; 12 grandchildren, 14 (almost 15) great grandchildren.

Pastor Rick Moore will be officiating. A visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Solway City Cemetery in Solway, MN.
