life story
A Mother who loved her family so much
"Do you know how much I love you? I love you so much." - Cathleen
Concerning Cathleen
Cathleen M. Quillin, age 73 passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on February 26, 2022 at the University of Minnesota hospital.
When "Cathy" was younger, her Mother Marie, and Father Ray divorced. Her Mother had to take a job in nursing out of state, and her Grandmother Inga raised her in Wisconsin.
Cathy graduated from an airline school, and took a job as a stewardess with the airlines traveling. In her earlier years, she had long auburn hair, and a striking model figure. She was very photogenic. In New York, she was known on TV as "Miss Cathy" to the public. She eventually returned back to St. Paul, Minnesota where her Mother lived.
On June 24, 1972 she married Duane Schneck, and they both had two children. Duane felt the city life was too stressful so he convinced Cathy to move out of the cities, and they moved up North in 1981. At first, it wasn't an easy life, but they survived, and they never went hungry. They loved living up North. They were a close family that went to church regularly.
As a stay-at-home Mother, Cathy raised her two children Hans and Heidi for 10 years. She eventually felt a calling to work as a CNA, and loved to do total care for the elderly. She was a CNA for 20+ years. Cathy and Duane were married for 30 years, but sadly, she decided to get a divorce. She regretted it later on, and often said that it was the biggest mistake she ever made.
She eventually moved back to the Twin Cites area to live closer by her Mother and daughter. Her son Hans and former husband Duane stayed up North in the Brainerd area, and they have a beautiful home out in the country she helped purchase back in 2013. She called this place "a piece of heaven" with its scenic meadowland she occasionally loved to visit.
Her family noticed in her later years that although she slept many hours, she still felt abnormally tired, and this went on for years. Cathy was also known to be emotionally sensitive (crying) while talking with others, and had a lot of heart. Back in January of 2021, she was diagnosed with leukemia, and she fought to the end. Her daughter Heidi helped take care of her during this very difficult time. On the day before she died, she was in the presence of her family, and they forgave her so she could release the pain of guilt, and pass away peacefully.
Cathy enjoyed walking, shopping, spending time with her family, and asking about the family pet cat, Spook. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Her favorite Christmas song was "Silent Night" that her son and daughter sang to her before she died.
Cathy is survived by her son Hans, her daughter Heidi, and her one and only grandson, Connor. She will always be remembered for her smile and the love for her family and friends. Just before she died, Duane sang a song to her that he wrote with his guitar, and made sure that she was at peace. Cathy was a total believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her family believes that they will see her again in eternity. She's gone home.
