About Cathie

Cathie Jean Carpenter Jungk was born April 11, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota, she died August 23, 2026 after a long battle with kidney failure and years of dialysis. Her sassiness and wicked sense of humor was there to the end.

Cathie graduated from Murray High School and Oliver Thein Beauty School. She married Leslie Jungk, the love of her life on June 14, 1969 while he was in the Army, on hospital leave, after being wounded in Vietnam. They devoted their lives to each other, never apart, always in love.

On June 7, 1986 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Kelsey Elizabeth, their lives now revolved around her. Tragically, Kelsey died of kidney cancer March 14, 2023.

In the 70's & 80's she took care of her niece and nephew while her widowed sister Linda was at work. She loved Eric & Gail as if they were her own children. As Eric said, "I've been thinking a lot about all of the tiny kindnesses she gave to me. They are just endless." "She kept encouraging me to not worry about her and just focus my energies on my family (which I had to remind her included her) and I think this really encapsulates her stubborn sweetness." From Gail "She taught me so much, she knew a little bit about everything and always had an answer to my questions."

After her granddaughters Bella & Lily were born, their family lived with Cathie & Leslie. They dedicated their lives to them. Her joy, love and pride for Bella & Lily was never-ending.

Cathie did not suffer fools, not afraid to call it as it is, you always knew where you stood, a fierce protector to all she loved, and her love was endless.

Cathie is survived by her beloved husband Leslie; granddaughters: Bella & Lily Villegas; son-in-law Juan Villegas; sister Caren (Byron) Turner; Brother-in-law, Curtis (Susan) Jungk; nephews: Eric (Cookie) Anderson, Paul Turner & Kurt (Colleen) Jungk; nieces: Gail Anderson, Kate (Larry) Steffensmeier & Tracy (Lee) Maher; grandnieces: Aleshia (Warren) Byone, Sophie & Kolby Steffensmeier; grandnephews: Harvey & Ernie Anderson; Uncle Douglas Strand; Aunt Bernadine Strand & many cousins.

She was preceded by her precious daughter Kelsey; mother, Carol Strand Carpenter Warner; step-father, Donald Warner, father, Lyle Carpenter, sister, Linda Carpenter Anderson; brothers-in-law: Thomas Anderson & Conrad Jungk; parents-in-law Rudolf & Jeanette Jungk.
