life story
Casey Weston Stott died peacefully in Stillwater, Minnesota on January 7, 2025 at the age of 30.
Casey is survived by his father, Gary Stott; siblings, Elise Hedrington (Curt); and Michael Stott (Rebecca); nieces and nephews Haylie, Payton and Ethan Hedrington; Miles Stott and aunts and uncles, David Coggins (Laura) of Manitowoc WI, Rachel Farley (Lynn) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Amy Johnson (Terry) of Chippewa Falls, WI; Jay Coggins (Wendy Rahn) of St Paul, MN; Janet Hetke (Paul) of Ladysmith, WI along with numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Vonnie Stott.
Casey was born on June 20, 1994 in Barrington, IL to Gary and Vonnie Stott. He graduated from Lake Zurich High School in 2013 and attended Harper College after that. Casey was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in 1998 and strove his entire life to overcome the disease. He was a quiet individual who did not open up readily but, when he did, his friends were treated to a fun-loving, sharp-witted, loyal and kind personality. He was an excellent student who loved learning, achieving honors in high school and was selected Phi Theta Kappa in his college career. In his post school years Casey spent time listening to historical books and studying economics and politics. His favorite computer pastime was playing a game called Venture Capital. Casey’s modest nature was exemplified when he was elected Homecoming King in his senior year and could not believe that many people even knew who he was. His family remembers him as a kind and loving brother, cousin, and uncle who attended their activities, encouraged them to do their best in pursuing their goals, and to love God.
Casey was a generous individual who loved his family and friends and who was passionate about Disney vacations, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago White Sox. He was an active and dedicated member of Alpine Chapel, Lake Zurich, IL; and Willow Creek Community Church, South Barrington, IL and often volunteered at his church.
