Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

In Loving Memory of Carrie Maxine Jones
Carrie Maxine Jones was born in Birmingham, Alabama December 7, 1935 through the union of Louis White and Ellen Davis. She was the third born of four children: Hazel White, Alexander White, and Theresa White-Foster. Both of Carrie’s parents and all of her siblings preceded her in death.
Carrie attended Parker High School in Alabama, and later married and moved to Illinois in 1964, and worked hard to help support her family. She worked in the cleaning department of Evanston Hospital for 30 years and retired. This strong work ethic motivated her to start a new career post-retirement, as the number one salesperson for Avon. If you asked anyone in Evanston if they knew “the Avon Lady,” they would always say, “Oh yeah…CARRIE!” She was always on the alert to sell her favorite products to everyone.
Soon however, Carrie learned to love something even more than her wonderful Avon, and that is Jehovah God! She was stubborn to hear this good news about the kingdom at first, but after a serious deep study and meditation of the Bible, she dedicated herself to Jehovah God in 1981. Carrie’s study of God’s Word showed her that she had found the truth, which was a greater passion in her life. It was the knowledge of Jehovah and the love he showed by giving his son in our behalf that now motivated her life. She began sharing this good news with more vigor and energy than she did selling her beloved Avon! Carrie preached to her Avon customers, while at doctor’s appointments and everywhere she went, including while in the hospital, because she had a more valuable item to share, and share she most certainly did. She made sure that her sister visiting her each year knew that if she visited, she would be attending the meetings at the Kingdom Hall, and she did just that.
Carrie spent a great deal of her time with of her grandchildren who live in Illinois, where she taught them to love Jehovah with their whole hearts. She was always a listening ear, when they needed someone to talk too especially, when their parents got on their nerves. Even in her declining years, Carrie stayed connected to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they all have cherished daily memories with her. They constantly visited her, and brought her gifts which made her very happy. Whenever they asked, “What would you like me to bring you, grandma,” she always said, “You can bring me some flowers" because she really love Jehovah’s beautiful creations of flowers. During her last illness, Carrie stayed very attached to her stuffed doll, and would not release it. Even while in the hospital, she cherished it very much, as it was given to her as a get-well gift by her eldest grandchild.
Carrie passed away Saturday November 19, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois at 8:30 pm. Carrie is survived by her four children: Jesse White (Angela), Larry Raines (Ruby), Jack Raines (Robin), and Ellen Ransom (Charles). Carrie has many beloved grandchildren: Anica White, Jesse L. White Jr.; Alex Raines, Shondra Raines; Omar Raines, Celvin Raines, Antonio Raines, Harrisen Raines; and Cara Ransom, Ellice Bailey (Andre), Elizabeth Ransom, and Jesseca Ransom. Carrie also has several great-grand children: Jude Bruce, Zoe Bailey, Tristan Bailey, Kyro White, Teddy, and Joseph. She also leaves to cherish her memory many dearly loved nieces and nephews: Shirley Ann Clime (Elijah), Juanita Mckinstry (William), Terry Foster, Marsha Elaine Rembert (Foster ), Daniel Foster, and many, beloved spiritual family and friends.
We recall the words found at Revelations: 21:3,4: With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Our beloved Carrie will be truly missed and we look forward to seeing her soon.
