Carolynn M. Nelson

Carolynn Melinda Nelson, age 55, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Carolynn was born on October 10, 1970, in Houston, Texas, to Georgia and Kenneth Wills. She grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, but planted roots for her children in Forest Lake, Minnesota, in 2001. In 2022, she packed her Jeep and drove 1,700 miles—with a cat in tow—to live in the sunshine 24/7. Tucson was the place where Carolynn felt most at home and she met a few incredible people; but after two years away, it was time to be closer to family. She spent her final years in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Carolynn was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Georgia Wills.

Carolynn was a devoted mother and was lovingly referred to as, “Magic Mom” by her children. She is survived by her three children and one granddaughter. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Thome and Emery Thome of East Bethel, Minnesota. Abigail (Abby) Allen of Cambridge, Minnesota, and Austin Nelson of Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Those who knew Carolynn will remember her for her bright smile and endless energy. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand or speak up for someone who needed it. Carolynn loved her animals, Howie and Toby, with all of her heart. She also enjoyed thrift shopping, laying in the sunshine, and dancing to Latin music around the house.

Carolynn graduated from Metropolitan State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned many accreditations throughout her career. She was passionate about her field and gave her all to support those in any stage of recovery.
