Carol Virginia Cardinal (Kunshier)

Carol Virginia Cardinal, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on October 3, 2026. She was born to Esther and Alex Kunshier on January 5, 1942.

Carol was deeply devoted to her husband, Thomas, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Alex Kunshier, and eight siblings. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Cardinal; their sons, Randy Cardinal and Thomas Cardinal Jr.; and their daughter, Heidi (Chris) Cardinal.

Carol cherished her role as a grandmother to Tiffany Cardinal, Jamie Price, Boston Cardinal, Samantha Redden, Kristina (Jose) Martinez, Jesse Miller, and Joshua Miller.

Carol and Tom were also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Carol enjoyed summer flowers, fishing with her husband, visiting with friends and family, going to garage sales, and canning pickles. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved when family and friends would stop by unexpectedly for a visit.

Carol will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will live on through the family she loved so dearly and the many lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, amazing joyful laugh, and thoughtful compliments.

Celebration of Life

Family and friends are invited to an open house and celebration of Carol’s life on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 12–4 p.m. at the family residence in Ham Lake, Minnesota.
