Carla Rae Schaap, 70, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Carla R. Devries was born on May 24, 1953 at Artesia, California the daughter of Clarence and Dolly (Dooyema) Devries. She grew up in California and Chandler, MN and attended school at Edgerton, MN where she graduated from high school in 1971.

She was united in marriage to Franklin Schaap on Sept. 3, 1971 at Chandler, MN. They lived in Bemidji and then Park Rapids. She loved to travel with family, she enjoyed camping, shopping with friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with Frank and the grandkids. She also enjoyed playing purse bingo with her daughter and family.

She worked at Citizens National Bank in Park Rapids for 30 years, retiring in 2018 as an administrative officer. She was a longtime member of Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids.

She is survived by her husband – Franklin Schaap, Jr. of Park Rapids, MN; two children – Michelle JoAnn (Brent) Darr of Ostego, MN and Franklin Paul (Shelly) Schaap, III; her mother- Dolly Hjellming of Edgerton, MN; her grandchildren – Eddie Darr, Riley Darr, Maggie Darr, Charlie Darr, Franklin Schaap IV, Tia Schaap. Her siblings – Alanna Vandertop, Charlie Devries, Gary Devries, Todd Schaap.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father – Clarence Devries.
