About Carla

Carla Rae Fredrickson (Averill), 75, of Clearbrook, MN, passed away peacefully with family at her side on November 7th, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. Carla was born on November 2nd, 1946, in Bangor, Maine to Gerald and Helen Averill. Being from a military family, Carla lived in several places across the U.S. She graduated from James Madison high school, San Diego, CA.

Carla married Douglas Fredrickson in 1972 and made a home together raising their four children in Alida, MN. They were later divorced when the kids were grown.

Carla was a nursing assistant in McIntosh and Clearbrook, later in life she worked at the Bagley thrift store. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Bagley Elementary school. She loved gardening, reading, embroidery, bird watching, spending time with loved ones, and tending her houseplants.

She will be remembered for her warm loving personality and kindness.

Carla is survived by her brothers - Michael and Gilbert Averill; her children - Viktor (Julie) Fredrickson, Kirsten Mengden, Krisha (Adam) Highberg, Amiee Fredrickson (Garrett Verke); grandchildren - Jordan Fredrickson, Nicholas and Mia Hoskins, Tristan, Hunter, and Gracie Highberg, and Simon Fredrickson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brothers Craig and Glen. She will be remembered fondly, missed greatly, and loved always by her family and friends.
