It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carla Ann Cohen-Hanhe, a devoted educator and cherished member of the Joliet community, who departed this life on July 24th due to complications from heart disease. Carla dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching, inspiring and shaping the minds of thousands of children throughout her career. Her passion for education was matched only by her unwavering commitment to her students, who will forever carry her lessons in their hearts.

After retiring in 2018, Carla continued to make a significant impact in her community through her charitable work at the Synagogue. Her generous spirit and dedication to helping others were hallmarks of her character, and she was a source of strength and support for many.

Carla is survived by her loving children, Chadwick and Molly, and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Cierra, James, and Kaylee. She took immense pride in her family, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate through them.

A private funeral service will be held on July 29th at her home in Joliet, Illinois, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her.
