About Bruce
Bruce Paul McLean, 62, of Mendota Heights, MN, formerly from Bemidji passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Bruce was born May 27, 1961, in Evergreen Park, IL, the youngest child of William and Jane (Winks) McLean. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs until 1967 when his family moved to Grand Forks, ND. After living there for two years he and his family moved to Bemidji, where he graduated from Bemidji High School in 1979.
He enjoyed playing youth and high school hockey in Bemidji and went on to play one year of hockey at Rainey River Community College in International Falls. The team made it to the NJCAA National Championship game in 1980.
He married Kristi Hadrava, and they had two daughters, Jessica and Nicole. They later divorced. Wherever Bruce worked, he was a devoted employee. While living in Bemidji he worked for many years at the Edgewater Motel and later Hampton Inn and Suites.
His last several years were spent in the cities where he was employed at Target. Bruce kept up with the news and sports daily most of his adult life and rarely missed a Vikings game. He also enjoyed hockey and listening to music. Bruce was quiet and unassuming with a gentle and giving spirit. As the years went by, he became more distant to those who loved him. But when he reached out, his love was always there.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Jessica McLean and Nicole McLean; grandson, Dominick Loud; sister, Sue (John) Carstens and brother, Scott (Saundra) McLean; nieces and nephews; mother, Jane McLean; and partner in life, Lori Velasquez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill McLean and brother, Steve McLean.
