life story

Loving uncle, brother and devoted son...

Brian will be remembered as loyal, trustworthy, dependable, humorous, intelligent, and most of all selfless. He spent his life caring not only for his mother, but the two children his beloved sister left behind as if they were his own. Brian's love could never be measured by his words, but truly by his actions.

About Brian...

Brian Chestleigh passed away on January 18, 2022, at the age of 50. Brian was born on October 10, 1971, to a family of five, making him the youngest out of his three siblings. His parents Bernard Sr. and Frances Chestleigh were delighted about their new addition.

He had an enjoyable childhood where he looked up to his siblings; Bernard Jr., Bruce, and Bernadine. Growing up, Brian was quite close to his sister, even celebrating birthdays together since they were a day apart.

After graduating from high school, he attended Illinois State University where he fostered lifelong friendships. Shortly after his time in college, he took over Frances’ Donut and Popcorn Shop which was started by his father Bernard Chestleigh. The donut shop days were filled with laughter and fun shared with family and friends. It was a safe and comfortable space. He brought joy to so many people with the donut shop, most notably the decades of Julian High School teenagers who practically lived off his mild sauce. Though it’s no longer around, the donut shop will remain a memorable experience for all who worked with Brian or visited.

Brian had a love of music, comedy, and baseball. When he really wanted, he could be the life of the party or he could be cool and reserved. Either way, his presence was one to be enjoyed and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Brian’s father Bernard Sr. and sister Bernadine will be welcoming him with open arms in heaven. He will be deeply missed by his mother Frances, his brothers Bernard Jr. and Bruce, and among his many nieces and nephews, Brandon and Basia. In addition to his immediate family, Brian leaves behind a beautiful extended family and many, many friends.
