Bonnie Spies

Age 77 of Woodbury, Minnesota, Bonnie went home to be with our Lord on July 22, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bonnie was born in St Paul, MN to Gene and Dorothy Korsell, with whom she is now joyfully reunited in her heavenly home. She was married to Robert (Bob) Spies, her husband of 57 years on January 2, 1965, and gave birth to daughter Shelly in 1967, and son Rob in 1970. She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Gene Korsell. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Bob, daughter Shelly (Adam) Ferris, son Rob Spies, granddaughter Dani Hansen, grandson Jake Spies, and her sister Barb (Roger Keapproth) Korsell.

Bonnie was a talented artist, and her works of art adorn many homes. She freely shared her many artistic talents with family, friends, and acquaintances. Her artistry included painting, crocheting, knitting, floral design, sewing, and creating drapes and curtains of virtually any style, but her very favorite was quilting. She fell in love with quilting late in life, but this was her most intense and prolific artistic passion. Bonnie won several ribbons at both the Washington County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair with her creations. She always said that if it’s worth doing, then it’s worth doing right.

Bonnie also had a passion for helping others, exhibiting a true servant’s heart whenever and wherever she was needed. It didn’t matter what kind of work was involved; she was right there lending a helping hand. This was very evident in her weekly commitment to serving God at her churches in Minnesota and in Arizona. Bonnie’s deep love and devotion to her family, her unwavering commitment to service no matter the cost, her talented artistic creations, and especially her amazing ability to make others laugh, will be her most lasting and remembered legacy.

Rest well in the arms of Jesus Bon. You truly lived a life worth living. Now you can finally enjoy your heavenly reward in your forever home.
